Christmas By Meleane

“ Yes few more days until christmas I said with excitement” . Me and my aunty went shopping at sylvia park and bought lots of christmas presents  wrapper and decorations for the house.

While we  were  at sylvia park we took a picture with santa claus and his elves .  It was quite cool meeting them and specially santa. We went back home and start decorating the house and we put up the christmas tree and start wrapping the presents.

A few minutes later vistors from my dad’s  family came over and couldn't believe their eyes they said it look so incredible and should of decorated their house just like we did.

After a little while we were proud what we have done to the house and could not wait until Christmas.

Netbook Reflection 2013 By Meleane

I love working with my netbook because its easier to work on, using  paper and pencil its kind of tiring and your paper can get really messy. What really frustrates me about my netbook is when math whizz does not work.  And when you log into your mail it has problems signing  in.

It will make it much better if all times we could work on our netbooks and that math whizz and your mail would work. When I did not have a netbook it was quite boring because you didn’t get to go online and get to organize you stuff into google docs.

Swimming By Meleane

“Oh yeh oh yeh” I said with an exciting voice but still feeling   sad because my friends are going off to camp at kawau island. And the year fives are staying with Mr. Somerville and got to go swimming everyday.

Very quickly the year five went to get changed, after a while we went down to the pools. All of the girls hopped inside and went sinking right down to the light blue pool. Then we played a game it was quite cool. The entire girls had to go on one end the boys had to go on the other end. Mr. Somerville toss the ball and speed I went gliding thru the water as I looked I reached and grabbed and gave it back.

Then we had free time for a while and got to dive then we all packed up and got change and went back to class.

UFO by Lee Andersen

One beautiful day John and Eric went to the forest they saw a shooting star well so what they thought It was. As it got closer it started to look like a UFO  "AHHHHHHHHH" Eric said.John and Eric was shocked he said to himself “are my eye ticking me”I rubbed my eyes.

They rushed to the scene they saw the UFO and they fanned a little green alien what a very small alien. It had a little glass helmet all of a sudden he pulled a gun. John said “ duk”Eric jumped out of the way. He stayed there and he was aware of what it would happen when it gets
him.

Eric said “go to my house and get the hammer run, run, run and I will hold him up” he ran as fast as he could. He said to eric’s WE NEED THE HAMMER!! while sitting down. John grabbed the key and struggled to open up the door finale he opened the door and got the biggest hammer they had and went back to the forest. He said in his head “will I make it ?”

John hid behind the tree’s and snaked and whacked the alien there was a hole in his helmet he could not survive. The impact of the glass helmet hit his head and made his head bleed all this green blood was squirting out of out of the alien’s head. They hid his  UFO in the lake they never found it again.

Fun Times in Room 15

This is a movie which is a bit messy but shows what we have been doing this term. First you will see that we have been animating our favourite toys. What a brilliant job Laita has done. Secondly we have a pool at school this term and our first lesson was a whole heap of fun.

“Oh no did you hear that said mum yes replied back joseph” They were all scared and freezing cold and turned around and saw a mama bear. AAAAAAA said the family running like a cheetah chasing a cat up a tree.

Never Robbing Again by Faaiua

Once upon a time there was a massive shop called Sylvia Park. There were evil people inside and one of their names was Rob. His nickname is Robber because he is good at robbing shops and houses.

When Rob went to the laundromat and he stuffed all his clothes inside and turned the washing machine on, he went to the shops and had some lunch. But when Rob got back to the washing machine his shorts were tiny like his sons pants. He said “OH NO!!!”.

So Rob asked Jack if he could take him to his lab and make his shorts bigger. So he pushed him inside his lab and there it was the all new Three Sixty machine, which shrinks or makes things bigger. He was so scared because his shorts might be too big. But it was the same size as him and he said “ YAAAY”.

After he wore his pants Rob felt like he didn't want to steal any more. Rob lived never stealing again.

Trouble At the Laundry Mat.

As Tevita arrived at the laundromat  Lata put moms laundry inside the washing machine. It started spinning like an earthquake put together with a tornado!

Tevita said
mum I’m going to the shop to buy some groceries”. As he waited he needed to go to the toilet so he went. He came back and all his mum’s clothes were on the floor soaking wet and all of her clothes were pink! Mum came back from the shop and she couldn’t believe her eyes. Her eyes were red like she ate something chilly.

Tevita's dad walked inside and saw all of the clothes on the floor. He knew what to do. So he picked up all of the laundry and put it in another machine. When it was finshed they all looked normal again.

Mum was so  happy that it wasn’t pink. They all went home and had a nice dinner together!!

It was time to pack up because it was about to rain but Aldora mum was still upset. As we were packing up the wallet was sticking out out of her hoodie. “Hahaha” cried out loud Annliz.

Hilarious Running By Meleane

“Oh no this might be a difficult challenge”  I said to my friend Annliz  with an edgy voice. I wonder how it will feel if I was in paralympics but we were  about to find out.

“ Ok room fifteen please get your self a belt and tie it around your waist and put one arm inside” said Mr Marks. It felt like I had missing limbs and my arm had disappeared. As Mr Marks blew the whistle I sprinted as hard as I could towards end of the of the court as I got back it was so
hilarious!!

Wheel Chair Sprint by Charlee Webb

The Paralympic is for people who are blind, deaf or who have no legs or arms. A sport that people with no legs can do is a sport call Wheel Chair Sprint. That is when you are on the speacil kind of wheel chair which has one wheel in the frount and two wheels in the back so that it keeps you balance. You dont have any handels all you need to do is mostly use you arms and hands to control the wheels like your on an wheel chair.

Paralympics by Lee Andersen

In the Paralympics there is a 200 meters sprinting race but its not any normal run. They have curved metal blades as their legs because they have amputated legs. The reason why the blades were curved was so that they could run fast. At first they looked like they would fall over at the start the crowd was supporting their team. A man who was running funny got to first place he was running like a speedboat.

Five a Side Football by Hope Loia

Five a side Football is a game that people play which I haven’t played, but I know how to play. The players are blindfolded because some of them are are blind and it’s not fair for them if some could see. Then there is a ball that has a bell in it so people know where it is. It looks really tricky to me but they make it look easy. Some of the Football players have fast legs like the wind it goes like a zigzag to. The goalkeeper can see but the players can’t, they are visually impaired.

Paralympics by Anthony Doctor

After the olympics there is one more sporting event that is the paralympics which is like special olympics. There was a 200m sprint. There were people with one leg and the other leg was a blade and if you had no legs you would have two blades on both legs. Did you know that fake legs are made out of carbon fibre and hot rod’s are made out of carbon fibre too. There was one person that legs were amputated they were cut above the knee and he ran funny he started getting close then he was leading and he was like a steam train and he got a world record.

Cross Country by Ana Bloomfield

"Man" I said tiredly. Today it Cross Country I didn’t want come to school today but I didn’t want to do that just because it was cross country. So I went to school. "Hi everyone" I said, "Hey Ana" they said back. It was time to get ready to run.

Then we all went to the court sitting down waiting for all the classes to come to the court. while waiting for all the classes we had a run to be fit. "Is everyone here" Mr burt said. He is the principal, he called all the class from room 1 all the way to room 24.

Everyone was here k lets get started. "NO NO I don't want to Run" I shouted, "why" asked my teacher, "because I don’t like running" I replied. But they said no I had to run. I would be at home right now but instead I am at school running, I hate this day. OK here we are on the starting line.

GO we went like a gun shooting, I was coming first but then I had to STOP, because I was so tired I could not run. I was so angry at myself. It was like past in hour and I was still running. Finally I could see the finish line. "Yeah" I shouted, I am at school now and I don't know what I came but I was still proud of my self.

Rugby training for under 40 kg by Tame Graham

Today I am writing about my rugby training. Yesterday the under 40 kg’s had a game with the under 50 kg it was a hard game. I was for the under 40 kg’s team. they were little but they were strong.I was sweating huffing and puffing but I still tackled some people.

You should of been there it was freezing cold so that’s why I stood in one spot to keep myself warm. The grass was muddy and cold that’s how I had a frozen foot it felt like it was gonna come off. But it didn’t. finally I got the ball I was using all my speed but then I slipped. It was sour because when I slipped some one dunked my head.

We lost by one Point we were terrified but at the end it was all about having fun.I can’t wait until the real game it’s tomorrow that’s what we need to worry about. Because there a bigger boys then my team.

Having a BBQ by Aldora

"One dollar for a sausage" Mr Marks shouted with a big angry voice, we were doing a barbecue. I was so excited to start because I was starving. I was so happy that we were doing a barbecue.

While other people were cutting the onions Mr Marks was doing the barbecue I could smell a yummy taste. It was making me hungry. The smell was so strong it made my tummy rumble.

After they all cut the onions and the sausage was ready, the girls lined up and got a napkin with a bread on it and inside of the bread was a sausage wrapped inside. Then they finally came to me so I could squeeze tomato sauce onto their sausage.

Finally it was my turn to line up. I had a nice napkin and inside of the bread and inside was a yummy sausage. Then I squeezed my favourite sauce on top of my sausage.

Hmmm I said happily to myself, looking at my sausage with greedy look. I was so excited to take my first bite. Finally I took my first huge bite.It was so incredible. I was nearly full. “I want another sausage” I whispered to myself.

Having a barbeque was so fun. Then I realised that everybody was crying because the onions were making them cry. Lucky I didn’t cut the onions. I was so relieved that we were finished. I had a great afternoon cooking with my classroom.

Bounce Bounce by Annliz Havea

“Oh man” I shouted, I can’t do the jump stop. Everyone stared at me I got nervous. Dribbling the ball to the line as i pivot when i got there. It was really awkward. It was difficult to stop when I was doing the jump stop.

Next we had to run to the line and jump stop, then pivot and put the ball around our waist three times. It was so, so exhausting. I hated to go twice so i told my team to go very slow.

After all that exhausting, amazing new tricks we learnt. It was time for us to head back,That day was a challenging day. I hope we get to do this another day.

Lee's Cross Country Experience

Hey Pt England did School Cross Country!! My team was Takitimu (Yellow). It was great my shoes were dirty I will tell you the whole story.

I could feel the adrenalin pumping in my body. I was very nervous about this, we all knew we had to run one kilometer.Mr Burt said “On your marks, get set, GO!!” I started to jog for a bit. The first puddle “Oh No” I said to myself. I ran through the puddle I was soaked but I still ran over the bridge.

One of the girls said “Which way do we go” and I said “Go left” then we both went left. When we were up to the steps we almost fell over going down. Then out of nowhere a puddle appeared and I got more wet then I was already. I finally got out of the swamp and I ran onto the grass.

But when I was running on the grass I started to sink in the grass as if it was quicksand!!. All of the teachers, mum’s and dad’s were cheering on their kids near the finish “GO!! GO!! GO!!” said the parents near the line I almost fainted but I was so close I didn’t want to give up. I was proud that I came 1ST place.

Meleane Cross Country

Clap clap clap! There goes  Mr Burt hitting against  a piece of wood, “that was the start of cross country” I said. So off I go running towards the smelly muddy creek feeling already dehydrated, looking at my friend asena coming first.

I hurtled along the zigzag tracks and wondering where was my friend Ana. I said to myself “what a dangerous broken bridge”. Suddenly I was coming 4th and I knew that I was feeling accomplished I was proud of myself and what I have done.

Yes! I said to myself with an exhausted voice, I was nearly at the finished line. So I sprinted like a cheetah running towards a car. Finally I was finished, I felt like I was in a tan machine. That was a EXHAUSTING DAY!

Meleane Best Rugby training ever!!

DALINGLING! “Yes the bell has rung” I said quietly to myself. Bursting off with excitement getting ready to go to our rugby training. I rushed to the toilets and immediately got changed before I was late.

Walking with my friends towards the field we saw Miss Vaafusuaga setting up the cones. First we did some warm ups and we played a game called survivor tag. Then we practiced our plan that we created yesterday and we did some cuts and draw and pass.

After we finished our game I was so relieved that we were finished. When I got changed I said to myself “what a good training” screaming out loud. Walking  really slowly back to class I took a sip of water so I didn’t get dehydrated. I bet training is better than playing on the playground I said quietly to myself. This is the BEST day ever!!!

Exhausting Running

“Oh No not again cross country training is about to begin”I said to my friend Annliz . The worse part of running is going to  Pt england reserve back to school and back to the the reserve. I just wish that we could run just halfway to the the reserve and back.

“Can all year five girls please stand against the wall” said Mr Marks. “Filling so infuriated right now” I said quietly to myself.  So here I go running towards Miss King already filling dehydrated. As I kept running it was like a lots of cars in traffic.

“Yes almost back to school” I said to Annliz, coming past Mr Marks feels like I'm inside a sizzling frying pan. Finally cross country training is finished, walking back to the classroom “I'm so exhausted” said to myself can’t have enough!

My favourite piece of Painting.

Wow! This is the best painting that I have seen in my life. I wish I could paint like that one day. I really like the feathers and the Tongan patterns, even the shiny gold glue. The person that inspired the masterpiece was Latu. I'm  pretty sure he is a famous artist.

Meleane Youth town

Coming out of the bus getting ready to enter the beautiful studio, Youth town! I was so excited when are class was making clay first. We finally got to the room and got started making the clay. On my way to go and sit down I put my apron on. As I look over to the front I saw clay Sculptures I didn’t know quite what they are. But I did know what they were for. Here I go starting on my squishy clay. I begin crosshatching the sides then I made a letter T in the middle it stands for my last name To’a and for my uncle. When I was finished I went go put decoration on which is shiny sharp glass. There were all kind of multi colours I put green, yellow and blue. But wait, it its not finished yet. Sue and Georgia has to mold it. Can’t wait to see it!!!

I looked over to the side and saw my big brother Tevita. Happily he was here to save me the alien got distracted by eating so my brother got the keys and unlocked me. Yes i’m free! MY WRITING ABOUT ROBERT DELAUNY

Robert Delaunay was a french painter long with his wife Sonia he was even a poet and a writer he invented contrasting color also geometric shapes.  He liked to use bright vibrant colors to bring his art to life often using shapes to represent an object of  movement in his art work.

Meleane writing about Monet

Claude Monet was an impressionist french painter who enjoyed painting landscape and cityscapes. He will always capture light and colour movement in different subject or seasons.

Monet created a beautiful water garden in Giverny and used it as a subject over and over again. He liked the way how the water moved and reflect the world.

The famous painting of the Japanese bridge showed an arched bridge crossing a pond. It was surrounded with trees and shrubs which reflects the light off of the surface in the pond when the season changes.

Jackson Pollock with Room 15 for PENN

Room 15 has been learning about Jackson Pollock and his wacky style of painting. This movie is about our experiences making our own piece of Jackson Pollock art.

Jackson Pollock Art by Hope Loia

Happily Rm 15 went outside to paint an artwork just like Jackson Pollock’s art. We grabbed  a piece of huge cardboard and a piece of A3 paper. I sellotaped my A3 paper to my cardboard. Quickly we ran outside and started to flick. As I was flicking on my paint I could already feel paint on me!

I used multiple colours for my painting like blue, yellow, black, white, pink and different other colours. It felt icky but it was still fun. Messily my hands were covered with paint.
Sadly I got paint on my uniform.

Jackson Pollock was a frenchman who lived in America. I think he was from New york. He also smoked and drank a lot. He has a wife and her name is Lee Krasner. Sadly he died when he was 44 year old.

Jackson Pollock by Grace Matatahi

Just doing our work Mr Marks told us we will be doing art. What a exciting activity. We got our A3 paper and put it on a cardboard, I sellotaped my A3 paper onto my cardboard.

I grabbed a paintbrush and splattered it on my paper. What a mess but it was cool. Have you ever splattered paint on paper before?

I used contrasting colours it was very colourful. As soon as we could we flicked, splattered and we dribbled all the colors before we packed up.

The artist we were inspired by was Jackson Pollock. He lived in America. He was married and he smoked and drank a lot. His wife’s name was Lee krasner. He died at 44 in a car crash at an early age. He was really passionate about his art.

Swimming at the YMCA pools

Wow! Entering the ymca pool is so exciting. I can’t hardly wait to get inside the pool. So I immediately rushed and rinse my self.

In I go, bobbing my head under the warm blue water. I suddenly pop my head up and realised we were starting. So here I go gliding through the wavy water, I popped my head up and took a deep breath. It felt like I just got shot out of a canon.

I hope next year we can do this again.

Meleane's Camping Story

Some people that I know have boring holidays. I always have fun holidays.

On Saturday it was so cool because my family and I went camping just in the backyard. It seems silly but its cool. You could play all sorts of games at night time. We played spotlight. When we were finished we started to make a fire with the marshmallows my aunty bought and we made s'mores which were so delicious. Then we all went to sleep.

Eden Park by Auri Kamo

In the holidays me and my cousin went to Eden Park to perform a haka in front of 300 people. It felt great doing the haka in front of so many people. The people watching were taking photos of us. I was proud of myself, and the rest of the kids that performed.

After going back home me and my cousin went to his brothers house and we played Bang. We slept over at his house. The next day early in the morning we went for a run. I thought my holidays were great.

Immersion Assembly by Aldora Togipau

I was so thrilled to come to school today, because I wanted to see my friends. When I trudged through the entrance my friends ran up to me and hugged me. “Oh my gosh I was waiting for you, for so long", shouted Ana.

“The bell rang”, said Ana. We were late for class. So we ran and just made in time. When we got to the hall, I looked around and some of the teachers were wearing costumes , it looked so colorful.

Team 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 teachers performed items. My favourite item was team five’s because it was about primary colours and I love primary colours. The first primary colour was red. Mr barks said that red makes him feel angry. He went out the back of the stage and started to scream as if he was going to fall off the sky tower. The second colour was yellow which made him dance. Then the last colour was blue which made him cry.

The theme of this term is Art Alive. I think this Term is going to be so much fun.

Activities we did at camp by Meleane

Sleeping in the tent was not comfortable. All I could hear was the security guards talking and the person next to me snoring. I didn't get sleep at all. A few minutes later Mrs Garden told us to wake up and I wasn't happy at all. We did jump jam. I was so tired I couldn't even take one step on the ground but lucky my friend Keis helped me.

Kayaking by Lee

My favourite part of camp was going kayaking. I really enjoyed kayaking because I have never been on one before. There were a lot of life jackets which were very colourful. As I was watching from the shore I saw people were colliding into each other with a bang. When it was my turn to go in the kayak my friend tried to capsized me and I was going to fall out but luckily I stayed upright.

Get Lost by Eric

On Thursday afternoon my group went to play Get Lost. Mr Marks made up Get Lost.

First my group went to Mr Somerville. We had to sing the National Anthem of Aotearoa. We sang and moved as fast as we could. We ran to the biggest tent. We had to build Humpty Dumpty ( humpty dumpty was a box) again. After taping Humpty Dumpty together again we moved all around the field and back to school. Finally we had to come together in the meeting room.

I enjoyed running across the field and back. It was fun.

Sleeping in a Tent by Vaifoa

On Thursday night we had to sleep in our tents and wear our PJ’s. I heard strange noises in someones tent and it was our next door neighbour whispering. The teachers heard it as well so they came and took them outside to stay there for one minute.

‘Crunch crunch’, there were some kids having a snack in the middle of the night and it kept me awake. Luckily I had ear plugs in my bag and I had a peaceful and quite night.

It was shining outside as Miss King said “Rise and Shine Campers”, so I quickly put on my clothes
for doing jump jam in the hall. I had enjoyed my day sleeping in a tent with my friends.

Camp Cooking by Grace

Do you wish that you could cook what ever you want? At camp we did camp cooking. We went into the tuck shop with Miss Jarman. All of us were very excited when she told us what we were going to cook, we were going to bake chocolate cookies. Yummy!

First thing we did was wash our hands. Miss Jarman melted the butter and got us into three groups. All of us mixed the mixer and after all of that we add the chocolate chips. We had a little taste and it was yum. Then we put it in the oven. It smelled great when we pull it out and then we had a little taste and it was delicious.

2012 - Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone out there in Blogger Land. Hopefully 2012 will be even more eventfull and amazing than 2011. We have a whole bunch of newbies that will be joining the blogging world very soon, so I am really looking forward to seeing what they have to say and contribute to our lives.

On a personal level, I became a father at the end of last year. So as well as my 29-30 kids at school, I now have one more student in waiting to think about.

Well only a few more days until school resumes and our lazy sleep ins and relaxing days are over. So enjoy the remainder of your holidays and see you soon.

From, Mr Marks
